Once you are geared, or think you have the appropriate attire to survive (Like a Coat and Backpack), you can begin to make your way further inland through the map until you find the Ruins which spawn Vehicle Parts and better Weapons. Only attempt to go to these areas if you are properly geared and are willing to die to extremely dangerous creatures and players. If they don't kill you, the elements more than likely will as you will suffer hypothermia and possibly Radiation if you are not geared correctly.
